Stan L. Abbott’s career as a journalist began in York and has seen him write for many national and regional newspapers and magazines. For some years he ran a successful publishing business in the Yorkshire Dales.
More recently he has worked in the airline industry, and ran a communications consultancy, based in Durham City and with clients across the UK and Europe. He still provides consultancy in tourism and aviation while also returning closer to his journalistic roots, writing regularly for a variety of publications, including the New European.
He has edited several books and magazines and was the author or co-author of three books about the celebrated campaign to save the Settle & Carlisle Railway. The Episode is his first novel. He lives in Durham and the Lake District with his wife and a fluctuating number of cats.
